Salt Lake City airport adds Registered Traveler

Atlanta also gives the program a green light

Salt Lake City International Airport has opened fast security lanes for participants in the Registered Traveler program at Terminal 2, used by Delta for its hub operation at SLC. Another lane for Terminal 1 is expected to open in a few weeks, according to press reports. The vendor for the Registered Traveler program at SLC is Clear, operated by Verified Identity Pass. Participants undergo a background check and get a biometric ID to use at Registered Traveler security lanes at any airport that has them, for an annual fee of about $100. Meanwhile, the Transportation Committee of the Atlanta City Council has approved deployment of Clear lanes at the city’s Hartsfield-Jackson Airport. There was no immediate estimate of how quickly the company would be able to move ahead with installation of the lanes at ATL, and airport officials said they would keep a close eye on the program once it’s operating at Hartsfield to make sure that it doesn’t lead to slower security processing time for regular passengers.
