Speedy security coming to SFO

Registered traveler lanes open at San Francisco, coming soon to LaGuardia

Verified Identity Pass, the leading vendor of the government-approved Registered Traveler (RT) plan for frequent flyers, said it has opened new express security clearance lanes at San Francisco International Airport for RT members. The Verified Identity Pass program, called Clear, has opened Clear security lanes in SFO’s Terminal 1 (B and C) and 3 (East and West). Clear lanes will open in SFO’s International Terminal in October, a spokesman said. In addition, the company plans to open its RT lanes at New York LaGuardia later this month, he noted. The additions mean, for example, that RT members will be able to use their biometric cards for expedited security clearance at both ends of a trip on United Airlines from JFK’s Terminal 7 to SFO’s Terminal 3. The company opened Clear enrollment desks at San Francisco’s airport last month, and since then some 4,000 travelers joined the program, the spokesman said. The RT program is expected to expand later this year to Washington D.C.’s Reagan National and Dulles, Denver and Atlanta.
