The Worst Flight EVER...
A few years ago, i was trveling home with my family from a luxury cruise in the Caribbean with Royal Caribbean International, on a U.S Airways flight non-stop to Boston, MA. The flight started out okay... if you overlooked the state that the plane was in and the tidyness of the cabin, and the friendliness of the staff. Well.. as we were flying, i was listening to the captains channel on my headphones because i saw some flames out my window. As i listened in, i overheard the captain calling out a "mayday" for our flight number to Philidelphia. They responded and the plane started its ebrupt descent. All the passengers were very alarmed because we were nowhere near Boston, and we were on a non-stop flight, and the fact that the planes engine was in flames, and there was no stuardess' around to inform us of the situation taking place. After a little while, the captain of the plane came over the P.A system and told us that "everything would be okay",,, as we were taking a frantic nose-dive towards the nearest airport (Philidelphia, Pennsylvania) and he informed us that we would be making an emergency landing in Philidelphia due to mechanical difficulties with the plane. Personally, i was surprised we had made it that far with the current planes shape that it looked to be in. Anyway, we made our final descent towards the runway and say the entire runway covered with fire foam, firetrucks and ambulances lining up on either sides of the runway and people just wondering if we were going to survive. We did make an okay, very bumpy and slippery landing into the foam and made a quick exit through the side door and onto the runway. Thank God! Then to make a aweful situation worse, U.S Airways promised to get us a "nicer" plane. (which took 2 hours) When it finally came, it looked to be in worse shape than the first one (duct tape was holding the overhead compartments shut) We landed safely in Boston and have never traveled on U.S Airways again.
