Trading suspended in Silverjet shares

All-business airline still waiting for fresh capital

Trading in shares of British all-business-class airline Silverjet was suspended on Friday after the carrier admitted it had not yet received an expected infusion of new capital promised by a Dubai-based investment group. At this writing, the airline’s flight operations – between Newark and London Luton, and between London Luton and Dubai – had not been affected. According to press reports from London, Silverjet officials were still expecting the first installment of the loan money to come through, although they conceded that getting the cash was now a “matter of urgency.” They also reportedly are in talks with other possible investors. Silverjet’s two competitors in the U.S.-to-London all-business-class market have already failed – MAXjet in December and Eos Airlines several weeks ago.
