TSA seeks traveler input through new website blog
The Transportation Security Administration said last week it has created an interactive blog on its website (www.tsa.gov/blog) to serve as “a tool for travelers to share their ideas, thoughts and concerns about aviation security.” The blog will also “post videos, innovative concepts and other helpful tools while charting feedback” from passengers, the agency said. But it sounds like it will also serve as a PR device for TSA to justify its practices and performance to consumers. According to TSA chief Kip Hawley, “We at TSA understand the ‘why’ of the security process and the reasoning behind it, but the public’s perception of TSA is based solely on their checkpoint experience,” he said. “”We need to do a better job of explaining the ‘why.’ This blog is aimed at providing an interactive forum where people can share feedback and get answers.” Various TSA experts will moderate and contribute to the blog, the agency said.
