U.K. may ease one-bag carry-on rule
According to press reports from Britain, starting January 7 the U.K. government will allow airports to request a relaxation of the current rule that strictly limits all passengers to one piece of hand luggage carried onto the aircraft. The U.K. Transport Secretary said current regulations restricting the size of carry-ons and on liquids in carry-ons will not change. In August 2006, the U.K. banned all carry-ons after disruption of a terrorist plot directed at commercial airplanes; later, the rules were changed to allow just one carry-on – a restriction that was always intended to be temporary. The U.K. is believed to be the only country that limits airline passengers to a single piece of hand luggage.
