United will add nine regional markets from Washington Dulles

United Airlines announced plans to begin new United Express service starting next month to nine smaller cities in the eastern U.S. from its Washington Dulles hub. The new markets include half a dozen cities that are expected to lose their US Airways Express service from Pittsburgh on January 6, when the next phase of US Airways’ downsizing at PIT kicks in. United said the new United Express routes from Dulles will include Bradford, Pa.; Jameswtown, N.Y. and Parkersburg, W. Va., all starting January 7; Clarksburg, W. Va. and Morgantown, W. Va., starting January 21; Altoona, Pa. and Johnstown, Pa. effective February 4; Beckley, W. Va. and Shenandoah Valley, Va., beginning February 18. United Express partner Colgan Air will operate the new routes with 34-seat Saab SF-340 turboprops.
