US Airways improves Envoy Class
Carrier upgrades transtalantic business service
US Airways said it has “freshened up” the transatlantic Envoy Class business cabins on its flights from Philadelphia and Charlotte to all 20 European destinations it serves. When the airline surveyed customers last year about business class, “They told us that the top three areas of importance to them were more attentive in-flight service, followed by better quality menus and greater choice,” a spokesman said. Consequently, US Airways has beefed up training of its flight crews, installed new business class seats on its 767s and upgraded meal service. The seats recline to 170 degrees and come with touch-screen entertainment systems, power ports and “generous stowage,” the airline said. New menus offer passengers in Envoy Class a choice of three entrees and one “optional express meal, available at the customer’s leisure.” Menus focus on higher-quality ingredients and healthier selections. Morning and early afternoon departures will serve brunch, while evening flights provide custom-made salads, local breads and entrees like filets, fresh fish and chicken with light sauces.
