Virgin America adds premium coach seats

Calls service 'Main Cabin Select'

For flights from mid-October onward, San Francisco-based Virgin America Airlines plans to enhance its in-flight product with a new “Main Cabin Select” service, with more legroom and amenities than standard coach service but less than first class. “This is for the traveler who wants an upscale experience for far less than what they would pay for business class on someone else,” said Virgin America president David Cush. Passengers who book a Main Cabin Select ticket will get 38 inches of seat pitch; dedicated overhead bin space; free food, cocktails and beverages from the in-flight menu; free use of the in-fight entertainment system’s premium TV and film content; priority security screening, check-in and boarding. The new service will be available for booking effective September 15.
