Dulles opens $137 million concourse extension
Washington D.C.’s Dulles International Airport has cut the ribbon on a $137 million expansion of its Concourse B, adding another 15 gates to the facility. The concourse has added a shuttle behind the security checkpoint to take travelers to the new gates – B62 to B79 – while those destined for other gates in the B Concourse should use the moving sidewalks. The first airlines to start using the new B gates are all low-cost carriers, including AirTran, JetBlue and Virgin America. According to airport officials, American and Delta are expected to start using some of the new gates later this year. The extended concourse also features new retail and restaurant tenants, including a fruit smoothies outlet, a burger joint, a sunglasses shop, a manicurist and a restaurant called Max & Erma’s.
