What does the future of networking sites look like? According to Scott Allen, coauthor of The Virtual Handshake (American Management Association, 2005):
• You’ll be able to maintain a single profile on a site that pushes it to other social networking sites, and you’ll receive a single RSS feed or email digest of discussions across multiple sites.
• Business networking sites will have tools that enable you to move seamlessly from relationships to collaboration, forming subgroups in private workspaces equipped with a wiki and Web conferencing. Startup Ojeez.com is already working toward this end.
• Users will share a site’s revenue. Gather.com, Flixya.com and Ojeez.com already reward users in various ways, from earning points that can be exchanged for merchandise or cash to using Google AdSense account codes to earning stock through member referrals.
•Reference books will help the uninitiated learn to navigate popular networking sites.
