Who should run a merged Delta-Northwest?
Jan 25 2008, 2:34 PM EST Talk of a Northwest-Delta merger is heating up, but questions remain about who would run the merged company, and which identity it would keep (see this week’s story). If Delta and Northwest merge, would you rather see Delta’s top management run the combined company, or Northwest’s? And should a merged airline use Delta’s brand name and identity, or Northwest’s? Post your comments here. 2 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Who should run a merged Delta-Northwest?
Jan 28 2008, 1:45 PM EST How about taking the best of each (assuming there is some to be taken) and getting rid of the worst? NW has bad labor relations, and Delta has lousy service. Improve both! 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Who should run a merged Delta-Northwest?
Jan 28 2008, 2:11 PM EST Having experience on both as a passenger and as a vendor to both. My recommendations would be to keep Delta's name, primary management and fold in Best Practices of NWA and best personel. NWA's fleet and equipment is near end of useful life for a lot of the stuff. I seem to hear a lot more horror stories about NWA than Delta. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Who should run a merged Delta-Northwest?
Jan 28 2008, 2:46 PM EST As a consumer, I think Delta's services are more in tune with what I choose when I fly (from all aspects...air fare, schedule, reliability, freq flyer program, perks). However, I think both airlines could use a fresher approach in general, but of the two I would choose Delta. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Who should run a merged Delta-Northwest?
Jan 28 2008, 3:16 PM EST Delta has the best track record for many years. I am sure that there are many people in NW that should be at high level positions also. If they can get beyond the company loyalties, a truely blended company would be the best. I would keep Delta over NW though. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Who should run a merged Delta-Northwest?
Jan 28 2008, 3:39 PM EST I think Delta has better brand equity, so it seems like a better choice for the name. Or maybe they should try a hybrid name like Delwest? NoDe? Okay, maybe not...:) 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Jan 28 2008, 8:07 PM EST Delta - They have a reputation for being a class airline and I agree with it. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Who should run a merged Delta-Northwest?
Jan 29 2008, 4:49 AM EST From 10 yrs experience as a NWA "elite" flyer, and frequent Delta trips since moving south, I say NWA has the worst service and least amenities--I say keep Delta name and blend best of NWA and Delta mgt. WOuld like to keep the mile-earning programs of NWA as they offer more ops for non-flight miles than Delta. Just hope they grandfather ALL active FF accounts and let elite members maintain their status. Do you find this valuable? |
