Are refundable fares important to you?
Feb 1 2008, 2:43 PM EST JetBlue airlines has introduced refundable fares for the first time (see this week’s story). Our question for this week: Are refundable fares important or essential to you, or are you generally able (or required by company policy) to take advantage of nonrefundable fares by locking in your travel schedule or otherwise meeting the restrictions attached to the lower fares? Feb 7 2008, 10:27 PM EST I feel that there should be refunds from all airlines w/out the excessive costs in which they charge. Of course Jet Blue would do this in order to "save face" after "kidnapping" their customers. It shouldn't come to this. Do you find this valuable? |

Feb 8 2008, 7:32 PM EST Refundable fares are a part of life - but even for consultants and other frequent fliers they tend to go with non-refundable fares unless there is a high probability that the flight is going to change. Only in that case are the non-refundable fares chosen. So in a small way, this does benefit business travelers as in those instances where changes are expected, a refunable fare will put Jet Blue into consideration when in the past it could not be considered. Do you find this valuable? |

Feb 9 2008, 5:56 PM EST LIfe is not predictable. It is wonderful to change a flight without worrying about the financial consequences, when plans change. If the airline has a seat, why not let me fly now instead of waiting for my scheduled flight when they may have to turn people away. Do you find this valuable? |
