Staying in a Marriott

I love the fact that I can find a Marriott in almost any city I travel to for business.

I too prefer Marriott Hotels. The consistency and room quality are very good. Guess I should mention that I'm a Platinum with them as well. Down side, Internationally, I still am not able to find a Marriott for a lot of the city's I travel too. Marriott like other chains has been going up and up on the rates. I'm now paying more than twice the rate in some of the properties I was paying two years ago for the same room. With 200 travel days a year, the room rates are becoming more of an issue than the filght costs.
There are two issues that really irritate me. 1) Paying for internet service in the full service properties and finding if for free in the lower end properties (consistent in most major hotel chains) and 2) Having the hotels jack up the rates and add minimum stays just because someone has decided to have a convention or other major event in the city.
Question: Would anyone beside me put their business with a hotel chain that guaranteed you not to screw you on the rate because there was a convention in town? Vegas is one of the worst offenders and international cities when there is an air show or other major event being held.

Consistency in service is what I like about Marriott. There are no surprises. I agree that one of my biggest pet peeves is having to pay for wireless access. Just include it in the room rate. The next pet peeve? I hate it when the valet changes my car seat position!
