What's your opinion of Southwest for business travel?
Jul 25 2008, 2:36 PM EDT
Southwest Airlines continues to churn out profits, and to add more capacity (this year, at least) while other major airlines are reporting big losses and shrinking their domestic systems (see this week’s story). Our question: Do you fly Southwest for business? How does it stack up against other major airlines in terms of the overall travel experience? Post your comments here.

They are outstanding for short flights...as for long flights like cross country flights, I advise that one avoids them like the plague.

Generally I can't say enough about their on-time performance, their cheerful attitude, and that they deliver what they promise to deliver!

Between their on time performance, lack of mechanical delays and cheerful attitude, I try to fly them as much as possible. Do you find this valuable?

I fly Southwest almost weekly. I have found them to be very good at what they do. I fly them both on short and long (cross-country) flights. Their staff is friendly, they are generally on time, they have not yet lost one of my bags and they make changing and modifying flights easy and relatively painless. Southwest is my airline of choice. Do you find this valuable?

Southwest has the best people all around, and it results in great service, on-time performance, fewer bags mis-placed, etc. They don't nickel and dime you with extra fees, and best of all don't penalize you when you change plans. You get 100% credit as long as you use it within the next 12 months. Their new boarding procedure makes flying with them even easier.
Unless you are hung up on first class (whatever that means anymore) Southwest is far and away the best airline for business.
Oh-I forgot to mention the reasonable fares also!

I fly Southwest for everything, as much as possible, since I live near one of the Southwest Hubs. It's amazing to me that the other airlines haven't gotten the message yet that people like Southwest because it's user friendly! If you need to change your reservation, there's no "change fee." There is no baggage fee, and no extra fees for anything. As others have said, the people are friendly and customer-oriented. The new numbered seating system works well and eliminates the old "scramble." Southwest gets you where you want to go WHEN you want to get there for a very reasonable fee. That's why they make money!
