Which airline's business class is best for sleeping?
Aug 1 2008, 2:36 PM EDT
Continental is the latest carrier to announce it will install fully-flat seats in international business class (see this week’s story). Our question: What’s the most comfortable business class sleeping experience you’ve had recently on an international flight – and why? What’s the worst? Post your comments here. Do you find this valuable?

Virgin Atlantic - from pre-flight dinner at the JFK Clubhouse to the comfy VS pajamas to the seat that flips over and makes a truly-flat bed and breakfast and massage at LHR Revivals - I can't think of a better way to cross the Atlantic in business class.

I have tried most and I have come to one consistent conclusion on business class sleeper selection. Stay away from the American flag carriers when traveling business class overseas. They like their third world counterparts will never get the message or point about charging more and offering less for business class overseas travel. American, United, Delta are just now offering their response to the foreign flag carriers business class sleeper seats introduced 3-5 years ago and guess what - their answer is a reclining seat that is not flat (unlike Singapore, Lufthansa, Air France, Cathay Pacific and BA which is fully flat. The seats are tight and you always feel as if you are slipping downward. To force the lower end of the American Airlines Business class seat that pretends to fully recline, I shove my computer underneath which raises the foot portion up to a reasonable level. The domestic carriers charge more than the foreign flag carriers business class seats, offer lousy service, less comfortable sleeper seats and food you want to avoid. On the other hand the foreign flag carriers deliver better sleeping comfort, better food, staff who are more attentive and fly newer aircraft. The decision is easy. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. AMEN! it is a shame that I always pick a foreign carrier for my international travel. Aside for the excellent perks, service and treatment of CUSTOMERS is a pleasure. American carriers have forgotten that we, the passengers are CUSTOMERS.

Singapore Airlines - sounds cliche, but it is true, I slept for 9 hours straight. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?
