American's WiFi service
Aug 22 2008, 2:05 PM EDT American has started offering in-flight wireless Internet service on 767 flights between New York and LAX, SFO and MIA for $12.95. Is this something you’ve been waiting for? Do you expect you’ll use the service? Do you think the price is right? Post your comments here. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: American's WiFi service
Aug 25 2008, 1:59 PM EDT Although the legacy airlines are "fee-ing" us to death, this one doesn't actually seem all that unreasonable. Of course, I would expect this to be a free amenity for first- and business-class travelers (though I'm sure it's not). The bigger question: have they figured out how to prevent other travelers from using Vonage or the like during flights... I know an overwhelming number of business travelers say they don't want to be sitting next to someone placing telephone calls. Do you find this valuable? |

RE: American's WiFi service
Aug 25 2008, 7:44 PM EDT Airplanes used to be one of the few places where I could disconnect from all of my gadgets. It was a welcome escape. I don't expect that I'll ever use the in-flight service. Do you find this valuable? |

RE: American's WiFi service
Aug 30 2008, 4:00 PM EDT Great! It is good to know its there if you need it. I travel frequently and often last minute, and find I am making reservations on the fly, no pun intended. A few dollars spent on WiFi can save me hundreds on hotel and car reservations. It would be nice, if they gave key car number, with 24 hours of service, and not just for that flight. I don't think it will allow phone calls...in Bahrain the WiFi providers blocked Net2phone and others web sites. Do you find this valuable? |
