Seat availibility
Feb 27 2007, 12:28 AM EST I have noticed that several of the flights I checked were said to be available but when I go to seating it shows that all seats have been sold or cannot be issued at this time. What gives? Is this a sign the airline has overbooked the flight? Do you find this valuable? |

RE: Seat availibility
Feb 27 2007, 10:09 AM EST Airlines typically give out advance seat assignments for only a certain percentage of seats on any given flight; they hold back the rest for assignment at the airport or the gate just before departure. Why? Because airlines routinely overbook their flights in anticipation that some passengers who have booked will not show up for the flight; if they gave advance seat assignments to everyone when they booked, they would not have enough seats to assign, based on the number of bookings they take. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Seat availibility
Feb 27 2007, 1:20 PM EST Thanks for your reply jimglab! I happen to have time on my hands this one particular day and wonder if the fact that the airline shows no availible seats for the flight to be a good chance for me to offer to be "bumped" in return for a travel voucher? Do you find this valuable? |
