In-flight WiFi on the way
Aug 1 2007, 3:44 PM EDT American Airlines and Lufthansa both plan to deploy in-flight Internet and email service next year, but without cell phone voice calling capability (see story above). Would the availability of broadband service affect your choice of airline? Would you rather see a complete communications spectrum that includes cell phone service? Post your comments here. 2 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

Aug 3 2007, 3:54 PM EDT In the close quarters of an airplane, cellphone conversations would be a nightmare. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: In-flight WiFi on the way
Aug 6 2007, 12:46 PM EDT You must be joking! Why is this question even being asked anymore? No, No, NO! Isn't it enough that we've got to contend with screaming infants and loud business travelers holding non-stop conversations? EVERY survey about this has said NO! So let's just move on.... 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: In-flight WiFi on the way
Aug 6 2007, 2:53 PM EDT Inflight Internet access is an idea whose time has come (without cellphone capabilities, of course!) I doubt it will give much of a competitive advangae for AA or LH: the other airlines catering to business travelers will certainly be offering this soon as well. Do you find this valuable? |

RE: In-flight WiFi on the way
Aug 6 2007, 5:38 PM EDT Internet and email would be an awesome addition to a flight. I agree with the others on cell phones, and I would choose NOT to fly a carrier that allows cell phones (if it were to become a differentiator and not all airlines allowed it). Do you find this valuable? |

RE: In-flight WiFi on the way - BAN CELL PHONES
Aug 6 2007, 10:39 PM EDT Great! Wi-Fi should be on every airline - But Cell phones NO WAY. I think cell phone usage should be banned entirely even before tak-off and after landing - There is nothing so important that you can't wait until you de-board. Any airlines that allow cell phones will be banned from my business and I will NEVER fly them - I'd pay double on a competing airline who does not allow cell phones. Do you find this valuable? |

Aug 7 2007, 12:24 PM EDT In fact, Skype means that anyone with a wifi enabled computer has telephone capability - so the nightmare is already here for the technologically literate Do you find this valuable? |
