Can Bush Administration solve airline delays?
Oct 1 2007, 9:57 AM EDT President Bush has personally intervened in the problems of overcrowded skies and long tarmac waits, demanding DOT action (see this week's story, above). Our question for this week: How confident are you in the ability of the Bush Administration to bring about a solution to the problems of flight delays and passengers being “imprisoned” on long ground holds? Post your comments here. Do you find this valuable? |

RE: Can Bush Administration solve airline delays?
Oct 2 2007, 5:27 PM EDT It would be pretty easy to say this administration hasn't solved too many issues facing our country--so why expect much regarding airport delays? But beyond the commentary, as a frequent O'Hare flyer, I haven't seen that DOT efforts there have really provided much relief. The problem requires a system-wide solution, not one airport (or city) at a time. 0 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Can Bush Administration solve airline delays?
Oct 3 2007, 4:36 AM EDT Not in my lifetime! DOT will appoint a panel to select a commission, that will issue a study, after 2 or 3 years, that will tell us what we already know, such as NYC area airports are to small to handle the volume, FAA technology for air traffic control is outdated, understaffed, and existing staff are overworked, most delays caused by weather, in any event. The US General Accountability Office...has issued 100s of recommendations over the last 30 years regarding all these issues...just search their web site, USGAO.gov Oh, and the public wants cheap airfares.
